Michigan City native now NATO ambassador

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. — A Michigan City native will now serve the United States as a NATO representative.

President Obama appointed retired Lieutenant General Douglas Lute to the position towards the end of May.

Lute will serve as the permanent representative or ambassador for the United States.

He's currently a member of the national security council as an advisor on Afghanistan and Pakistan policy.
