Michigan City Police conducting death investigation, victim identified

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Michigan City Police have released the identity of the man who was found deceased at a home on Fir Street early Wednesday morning.

Police were called to a residence in the 200 block of Fir Street around 2:30 a.m. for reports of a person who had been shot and was not breathing.

When police arrived, they found 26-year-old Micah Garrett deceased in the home.

During the investigation, detectives identified a person of interest, but the investigation is ongoing.

Police said the incident was not a random act of violence.
