Michigan City Police respond to armed robbery Dec. 10

LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. – Michigan City Police responded to a call of an armed robbery at approximately 2:43 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of East 9th St. and spoke with an adult male who reported being robbed of his personal property.

The victim reported following the suspects to a residence in the 500 block of East 10th St.

When officers arrived to this residence, they located both the suspects and the victim’s belongings.

The MCPD Investigative Division took over the investigation and two 16-year-old juveniles and 18-year-old Martel Smith of Michigan City were arrested.

The first juvenile was arrested for Obstruction of Justice, while the second juvenile was arrested for Robbery.

Smith was arrested for a Failure to Appear warrant for Operating a Vehicle without Receiving a Driver’s License.
