Michigan cop alive thanks to bullet resistant vest

WARREN, Mich. -- A suburban Detroit cop is lucky to be alive after responding to a call.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute call at a suburban Detroit home.

When officers arrived, police say a man started shooting and one officer was shot in the stomach.

He suffered bruises because his vest stopped the bullet.

Police describe the shootout as crazy.

Investigators are not sure why the gunman opened fire.
