Michigan homeowner shoots knife wielding home intruder

CONSTANTINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Michigan State Police are investigating after a reported home invasion resulted in the intruder being shot by the homeowner in Constantine Township.

Friday night, police were dispatched to a residence on Maple Road where a homeowner said a man with a knife had entered his residence, at which point the homeowner shot the man in the upper thigh, according to officials.

Officials state, troopers on scene found a male subject laying outside of the residence with a gunshot wound and provided lifesaving care to the subject until EMS arrived.

The suspect was transported to Memorial South Bend Hospital and is in stable condition.

This incident is currently under investigation.
