Michigan K-9 units now sporting new GPS tracking devices

NILES, Mich. -- Michigan State Police have a new way to "sniff out" their K-9 units.

Every state police dog now wears a GPS tracking device around their collar.

ABC 57 visited the Niles post and met Dodger who showed off the new technology. The program started a few years ago after a K-9 unit got lost in Northern Michigan and was never found.

The new GPS collars will be worn on all bomb, drug, and cadaver sniffing dogs.
