Michigan launches dozens of free COVID-19 testing sites
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is launching a new partnership with Walgreens and the Michigan Primary Care Association to create 77 new, free COVID-19 test sites across the state.
The new testing sites will bring the total number to nearly 100 statewide.
Sites will be established in Benton Harbor, Niles and St. Joseph as well as in surrounding southwestern Michigan areas.
Testing at 36 Walgreens locations around the state are available by appointment-only and is provided through the existing drive-thru pharmacy lanes.
Pharmacy staff will walk patients through a self-administration of a COVID-19 test.
The MDHHS is also expanding its work with Michigan Primary Care Association to ensure patients do not face costs for testing at 47 locations.
The 20 neighborhood test sites that MDHHS already launched will continue to operate.
Patients can use the locator tool on the state’s website to find a location nearest to them.
