ABC 57 STURGIS, Mich. -- A complaint has been filed in federal court against Sturgis Hospital by the Michigan Nurses Association over its June closure.
The hospital closed its doors in mid-June after years of financial hardship and efforts by hospital leadership and the Board of Directors to secure a sustainable path forward.
The Michigan Nurses Association argues the hospital gave short notice to nurses and is seeking back pay and benefits for those affected.
The closure affected all hospital departments and services, including the Emergency Department, Endoscopy, Surgery, Laboratory, Medical Imaging, Physical Therapy, Cardiac Rehabilitation, outpatient clinics, and supporting ancillary departments.
