Michigan patients test negative for 2019 Novel Coronavirus
Michigan health officials said the three patients who were tested for the Novel Coronavirus received negative results. A fourth patient is currently being tested.
“We are pleased to announce that the results were negative from Michigan’s first three patients under investigation,” said Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, MDHHS chief medical executive and chief deputy for health. “We encourage healthcare providers to remain vigilant in screening patients for symptoms and travel history, and to contact their local health departments immediately if they see a potential case.”
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says the fourth patient is in Washtenaw County. A specimen from the patient is being sent to the Centers for Disease Control to be tested.
2019 Novel Coronavirus has been identified as the cause of an outbreak of respiratory illness first detected in Wuhan, China.
