NILES, Mich. -- On Thursday, the Michigan State Police held a hiring event at its post in Niles where interested applicants could apply, take a baseline fitness test, and an entry-level law enforcement exam.
"So, these hiring events are important because it kind of brings our testing requirements to the public to remove any barriers that anybody might have to join the Michigan State Police," MSP Trooper Conner Mabie said.
The event ran from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and MSP is happy with the turn out and their current hiring capabilities.
"Our hiring has been pretty consistent for a very long time. We are filling recruit schools. We have to recruit schools scheduled every year, typically in January and July. We are hiring now for the July school," Mabie said. "I think that one of the biggest selling points of the Michigan State Police is we have a lot of different opportunities for you to fill, figure out what you're passionate about. It's really endless, if you can think about it, we have an opportunity and a spot for you."
