Michigan State Police investigating deadly multi-car crash in St. Joseph County

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. – Troopers from the Michigan State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at the intersection of Nottawa Road and Prairie Corners Road in Mendon Township in St. Joseph County.

60-year-old Thomas Eugene Bell of Mendon was driving a 2002 Dodge Intrepid eastbound on Prairie Corners Road when he missed a stop sign at Nottowa Road and was struck by 36-year-old male driving a Dodge Journey heading southbound.

Bell was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger of the Dodge Intrepid, 67-year-old Betty Ann Bell of Mendon, was transported to the hospital.

The male driver of the Dodge Journey suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

No one was charged. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash.
