Michigan students boycott high school lunches

MUSSEY, Mich. -- Imagine school lunches filled with rotten tomatoes, moldy bananas and pizza made with toast.

Students at one Michigan high school said their lunches look like a science project and now they're fighting back.

Joey Memacek, 17,decided to take some pictures and he posted them to Facebook. Soon, the lunch line at Capac High School went from 300 kids to 20.

"Schools tell us that they're seeing a 50 percent increase in the amount of lunch room trash.” said Kay McKeen.

The superintendent said in statement, new federal guidelines brought many of the changes to the menu, but the district is working with food services to make improvements, and address students' concerns.
