Michigan suspends Cass County auto dealer

The state of Michigan has suspended Jake's Enterprises of Dowagiac for failing to provide records for inspection, according to state officials.

A regulation agent went to the business on February 20 to inspect property and business records, but the door was locked and no one was at the business during business hours.

A preliminary conference notice was sent to Jake Meachum on March 20 requesting he provide records for inspection.

On April 25, the notice was returned as unclaimed.

The summary suspension was issued after two attempts to obtain records failed, the state said.

The dealer's license can be reinstated by showing they've complied with state law and can request an administrative hearing on the suspension.

The state says anyone with a complaint about Jake’s Enterprises can contact the Office of Investigative Services automotive complaint line at (517) 335-1410.
