Michigan teacher suspended after breaking up fight with hot tea

HASTINGS, Mich. -- A Michigan teacher is under fire for using hot tea to break up a fight.

The brawl broke out between two students at Hastings High School, when the teacher couldn't break it up, police say she poured hot tea on the boys.

Some parents are furious and want the teacher fired. Others say the whole thing is being blown out of proportion.

"I just felt the tea running down my neck,” said Skyler Henion. “It was burning and I got up."

“I’m sure there are other ways to deal with that,” said Carolyn Henion.

The other teen in the fight said the tea wasn't hot at all. Both boys are suspended and the teacher is on paid leave.
