NOTRE DAME, Ind.- Mike Brey goes out on top in his final home game.
A special win for Mike Brey, as his team has struggled the entire season.
only winning two games in the ACC before the matchup against Pitt.
So, to beat the number one team in the ACC conference in Brey’s final home game, it doesn’t get much better than that.
The final score of 81-88 doesn’t indicate that the Irish were up by as many as 20 points.
Coming down to the final minutes, some costly fouls made the game much more dramatic on senior night, for the fans and 30 of Brey’s former players in attendance, to see their head coach go out on top at Purcell Pavillion.
The Irish were led by graduate senior’s Cormac Ryan and Marcus Hammond with 20 points each.
“What an unbelievable night and very proud of our guys. They’re really good and Pitt is really good. You know, we defended pretty much for the whole game. I thought we were good offensively and it was neat to feel this atmosphere in here one last time,” said Brey.
“It was good to kind of get a win, especially you know, in that fashion. Wasn't going to be easy. We knew it. And to kind of get out of there with the dub,” said graduate senior Cormac Ryan.
