Mike Sanford Sr. resigns, to join son at Western Kentucky

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -

A Sanford family reunion in Kentucky is looking more and more like a possibility. 

Mike Sanford Sr. resigned today as Indiana State Head Football Coach. He will join his son, Mike Sanford Jr., at Western Kentucky.

Sanford Jr. announced Wednesday he was leaving Notre Dame to be the head coach at Western Kentucky next year after serving on the Irish staff as offensive coordinator the last two years.

Sanford Sr. served as Notre Dame's Wide Receivers Coach for three years during the mid-90s.
