Mike Yore Memorial Car Show headlines Love Local Weekend in St. Joseph

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- Love Local Weekend will take place July 15-17 in St. Joseph and will be headlined by the Mike Yore Memorial Car Show.

The car show will take place on Friday, July 15 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. along Lake Boulevard in downtown St. Joseph.

In addition, Lake Effect Big Jazz Band will be performing as part of the city’s Friday Night Concert Series, which begins at 7 p.m. at the John E.N. Howard Bandshell.

On Saturday, July 16, the Race for YMCA 5K/10K will take place, raising money to provide financial assistance for memberships and programs to local families in need.

Saturday’s events also include the St. Joe Farmers Market at Lake Bluff Park, which coincides with the Lake Bluff Artisan Fair and the Summer Art Market at the Krasl Art Center.

The action-packed Saturday wraps up with the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra performing at the Silver Beach Shadowland Pavilion at 6:30 p.m., and a screening of the 2020 film Soul at 7:30 p.m. at Whirlpool Centennial Park.

Love Local Weekend concludes on Sunday, July 17 with a free Municipal Band Jazz Band Concert at the Bandshell at 7 p.m.

“Love Local Weekends are jam-packed with summer fun,” said Amy Zapal, executive director of St. Joe Today, which promotes events and businesses in St. Joseph.  “There are breweries, concerts, vineyards, beaches, the Whirlpool Compass Fountain, local businesses, and the breathtaking lighthouse and piers.”

Visitors and residents alike can enjoy extended shopping hours, featured menu items, and other area specials.
