Miles Boykin raising money for coronavirus relief with 1-on-1 video chats
Former Notre Dame wide receiver Miles Boykin just completed his rookie season with the Baltimore Ravens. Boykin scored 3 touchdowns in his NFL debut. Now he’s using his platform to connect with fans virtually and raise money to help people affected by the coronavirus.
“When you’re a kid, this is like what you dream about and it’s crazy to say I’m truly living my dream. That’s why I do things like this, to be able to give back, because I’m so blessed and I just want to pass it on.”
Boykin has teamed up with Chatalyze.
For a $20 donation you can connect with the up and coming NFL star for a personal meet and greet.
All of the money raised will go to the United Way’s coronavirus relief fund.
“They can screen shot a picture of me and I can autograph it for them. They can ask me anything they want to ask me. Really I just want it to be a 1-on-1 conversation. Really just want to chop it up with people because I think people don’t really get to see that side of us, too much. I’m a regular person, shoot, I’m 23 years old. All I do is play X Box all day now. So, just to be able to show people that side of me and get to meet some of my fans is awesome," Boykin said.
“A lot of us feel a little helpless or like we know there’s so many things out there that people need help but you don’t really know how to do that. Does participating in something like this kind of give you that opportunity to kind of take a little bit of control back and know that you’re making a difference?" Allison Hayes asked.
“Absolutely. I think the big thing for me is, obviously giving back to the people who have been affected by the coronavirus but second, just being able to meet and engage with fans on a positive note. And, we can’t control many things, but like you said, this is something I can control. Hopefully, giving them this chance, like I said hopefully just brightens their day and gives them something that makes their day go by a little faster. For me it’s just exciting to be a part of something that is helping giving back to people," Boykin said.
Boykin says he’s talking to his mom and brother back home in Chicago almost daily to help him get through the quarantine.
If you’d like your chance for a little face time with Miles on Thursday April 2nd, the virtual meet and greet will be from 7 - 8 p.m. For the link to register your time slot, go to the Chatalyze website.
