Miracle tree helping families in need this season

ROCHESTER, Ind. -- Millcreek Missionary Church in Rochester is working with the communities across Fulton County to ensure that kids in need can wake up to a magical Christmas on Dec. 25.

The community is hosting three miracle trees in the area, one at Shepherd's Chevrolet in Rochester, and one in Mentone and Akron libraries as well.

The miracle trees have been a part of holiday tradition in this area for many years, but in more recent times, the church has partnered with local elementary schools to be able to help more children across the area.

Now on the cards at the tree you can see what all the siblings wants and needs are this season.

Chris Beall who helps run the program tells ABC57's Sidney Moore that they are bringing the holly jolly spirit to 2-3 hundred families annually over the past couple years.

This helps to take off the pressure to families that may be going through tough times this season. Chris Beall says, “You hear the songs, you see the commercials on TV, you know, you get all of the bombardment of, you know, what a real Christmas is supposed to look like, and that can be a lot of it can be that can be very difficult for families that are, you know, a financial situation, for whatever reason they can, you know, be tough to provide that and feel the pressure as a parent to provide that.”

Chis Beall says the last day to bring in presents is Dec. 10 to one of the three tree locations.
