Mishawaka Barnaby’s property is up for sale, owner plans to move business

MISHAWAKA, Ind.—The property at 3724 Grape Road in Mishawaka has been listed for sale.

The Mishawaka Barnaby’s Pizza location currently occupies the 4,875 square foot restaurant building on the property.

According to the real estate listing on Bradley Company’s website, the 1.13 acre property, which includes the Barnaby’s building, is priced at $1.5 million.

The Mishawaka Barnaby's owner, Mike Lane, said Friday that the business itself, however, is not for sale.

Lane has worked at Barnaby's for the past 50 years and plans to continue the business, despite the building's imminent sale.

On February 14, a "for sale" sign was posted on the property, Lane said.

Lane said that he did not get an advanced notice from the building's owner and was surprised by the "abrupt desire to sell the building."

According to Lane, Barnaby's is actively looking at alternative locations for the restaurant.

"I am disappointed with the prospect of leaving the Grape Road building, but I believe that this is an exciting opportunity for the business," Lane said in a press release. "The move will provide a new and improved location that will help Barnaby's continue to serve the Michiana area with great food and drink for the next 50 years. We will keep our valued customers and employees informed as we finalize our plans. Thank you for your loyalty and support."

Lane did not say where the new location will be or give a timeline for the move. He did not say if we was planning to purchase the building from the current owner, either.
