Mishawaka P.D. goes out in full force for 'Shop With a Cop'

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Mishawaka Police Department was out in full force Sunday, not to get the bad guys, but have a little fun instead.

More than 20 kids got a chance to go on a shopping spree with their favorite police officer. The officers take donations from the community and buy gifts with it for kids in need of a little holiday cheer.

One officer says it's important to put gifts under the tree for these kids.

"We don't want the children to have that period where they feel like they have to suffer a Christmas without any toys,” said Cpl. Mark Fedder. “So I think it instills that huge, Christmas spirit."

The Mishawaka Police Department raised about $5,500 for this year's ‘Shop With a Cop’.
