MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Mishawaka Police Department is investigating two thefts from kids who were visiting the Merrifield Park Pool Saturday. According to police reports, both thefts happened around 6:00 in the evening. One victim, a 13-year-old, had his wallet stolen. A 17-year-old girl had a phone and other items taken. Police tell ABC57 News that some items were taken from unlocked lockers. Other items that were stolen were left unattended on chairs and in towels.
"Whether it's a quarter or 50 cents, there's a locker, put the money in there. You turn the key, take the key, you got the key. Nobody is going to get into it. Don't leave anything under a towel. Don't leave anything on a chair by the pool because somebody is going to take it." Lt. Tim Williams, with MPD, said.
Williams says they were able to use GPS to track a phone that was stolen. It was returned to one of the victims. However, no suspects have been found and the other items are still missing.
Police are asking anyone with information to give them a call.
