ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A team of volunteers and firefighters rescued a missing dog along the shores of the St. Joe River on Thursday just outside of South Bend city limits.
Animal Rescue volunteers teamed up with Clay Township firefighters on Thursday to catch a dog using a safe, humane trap.
The dog, believed to be a family’s lost pet, had been spotted running around in an area of woods near the river for about a week prior to Thursday.
For now, the dog is being named “River” and is being taken to a vet to determine if he has an identification chip implanted.
