ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- A moment togetherness will be had Friday night in Berrien County before the "War by the Shore" rivalry game between St. Joe and Lakeshore High Schools.

Mothers from both teams are gathering for a pregame prayer at the St. Joe football field in part, for the Lakeshore JV player who's back was broken a week ago.

The video of the incident went viral on social media. It shows the much larger Kalamazoo Central player throwing his entire body weight onto the smaller player on the ground after the play was over.

This left the 15-year-old with two broken vertebrae according to his mother Courtney Mims.

This week she also started this GoFundMe page called "Colton Strong," with a goal of raising $5,000.

It's already near the goal and you can still donate right now if you wish.
