More Hoosier teachers being laid off

HAMMOND, Ind. -- Tight budgets are leading to more teacher layoffs in the state of Indiana.

In Hammond, nearly 100 teachers could be laid off. Hammond is one of the largest districts in the state.

These latest rounds of proposed layoffs come on the heels of more cuts. They include 80 support staffers and about 20 long-term substitute teachers.

The school board president said they have to make cuts because enrollment is down due to charter schools and the state's private school voucher program.
