More Notre Dame graduates choose to join the Peace Corps

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- More Notre Dame graduates are choosing to join the Peace Corps!

In fact, the university is now ranked 10th in the country.

Right now, 35 Notre Dame alums are in the Peace Corps. The program is promoted through the center for social concerns.

Notre dame jumped from 23 to 10 in just two years! The university attributes the growth to interest in globalization and recruiting.

"There is a desire for each of our students to truly tap into his or her vocation and if that is the peace corps into the next phase of their life beyond graduation than yes we hope that is reflected in the rankings,” said Michael Hebbeler, Director of Student Leadership and Senior Transitions in Center for Social Concerns.

Notre Dame just celebrated its 50-year anniversary partnership with the Peace Corps last fall, which Father Theodore Hesburgh worked closely in starting.
