Motorcycle crash leaves man's foot severed

ELKHART, Ind. - The Elkhart Police Department reports on June 6, at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers responded to a motorcycle crash near 3903 E. Jackson Blvd.

Authorities' initial investigation indicates the motorcyclist, identified as a 38-year-old man, struck a guardrail and was thrown from the motorcycle, severing one of his feet.

The report states officers applied tourniquets and rendered first aid until medics arrived on scene.

Medics took the man to Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment of his injuries.

No other injuries were reported.
