Motorcyclist injured in collision with deer

A motorcyclist was injured Tuesday evening in a crash involving a deer.

The motorcyclist told Cass County deputies he was driving eastbound on Peavine Street just before 10 p.m. when a deer ran in front of his motorcycle.

The driver, James Carter, 35, said he was unable to avoid the deer and struck it.

Carter was taken to Lakeland Niles Hospital for treatment.

Deputies say Carter was wearing a helmet.

Deputies say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
