MSP trooper arrested, accused of embezzlement

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- A Michigan State Police trooper with the Niles Post was arraigned on embezzlement charges on Tuesday.

Jesse Binns, 29, has been charged with embezzlement $1,000 or more but less than $20,000 from a non-profit or charitable organization.

The MSP says the charges are related to his employment at the Cass Central Fire Department.

Binns has been suspended without pay since September 2018 from the MSP.

Binns was arraigned in Cass County after charges were authorized by a special prosecutor assigned out of Kalamazoo County.

The MSP says it demands the highest standards of professional conduct from its members.

Binns will remain on suspension until the outcome of this matter, the MSP said.
