MSU releases statement on death of local man who ran track at the school

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The 21-year-old man who was killed in a vehicle accident in Berrien County over the weekend was identified as Cole Toney, a state champion track star at St. Joseph High School and collegiate running for Michigan State University.
“Cole Toney was known to his friends and teammates for his work ethic and kindheartedness. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time," a school spokesperson said.
Toney was on the MSU Track and Field team for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons.
