Multiple departments respond to Christmas Eve morning fire
Lincoln Charter Township Fire Department BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Lincoln Charter Township Fire Department reports around 7 a.m., Wednesday, a call came in for the smell of smoke inside a home near Grand Mere Inn.
Firefighters immediately responded to the scene and requested aid from Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety and Lake Township Fire & Rescue.
Fire officials say upon arrival they could smell smoke outside the home.
The homeowners informed crews the smoke was coming from the second floor.
Crews entered to find the wall between the master bedroom and bathroom had paint bubbling with some paint turning black.
On the third floor, crews found smoke coming from a vent.
Crews began attacking the fire with water cans and tools to remove the drywall.
The report states damage was kept to a minimum and salvage tarps were placed throughout the affected areas.
The homeowners were home at the time, and no injuries were reported.
