CHIKAMING TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Multiple local fire departments responded to the westbound lanes of I-94 early Monday morning for a reported semi-truck and trailer fire.

The Chikaming Township Fire Department reports they responded to the scene at around 1:34 a.m.

Both Lake Township Fire & Rescue and New Buffalo Township Fire Department responded for mutual aid.

Upon arrival, crews found the semi and trailer engulfed in flames, at which point they began attacking it.

Police subsequently closed westbound I-94. Fire officials say the fire was brought under control by around 2:12 a.m.

One westbound lane was reopened while crews and other agencies stayed on scene for an extended period while the truck, trailer, and cargo were removed.

All lanes were reopened late Monday morning.

No injuries were reported in this incident.
