Multiple departments respond to two fires Wednesday afternoon, one deemed suspicious

Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety reports they assisted Benton Charter Township Fire Department with a hay barn on fire in the 2900 block of Empire Avenue Wednesday around 12:45 p.m.
Crews with BHDPS assisted with the overhaul on scene.
Just before 5 p.m., Wednesday, BHDPS, BCTFD, St. Joseph Department of Public Safety, and Lincoln Charter Township Fire responded to the 800 block of Vineyard Avenue for a garage fire.
Firefighters used two lines to bring the fire under control.
Fire officials say the garage fire is considered suspicious, and anyone with any information regarding it should contact Fire Investigator Bruce at 269-927-8418.
