Municipal governments in Indiana to be reimbursed for revenue lost due to gas tax suspension

INDIANAPOLIS -- Local governments in Indiana will receive funding for money they may have lost due to the gas tax holiday.

Gov. Mike Braun announced the initiative in a release from his office. A formal request to transfer funds from the state highway fund for April and May will be made to the board of finance in July. Local governments can expect to be reimbursed no later than November 1.

Fulton and Marshall Counties previously announced some road projects would be canceled due to revenue uncertainty. The Fulton County Highway Department tells ABC57 that how they move forward on projects depends on when they receive funds.
