Nardo's Pizza Underground becomes the second local pizza place in Saint Joe Michigan
SAINT JOSEPH, Mich. -- An ‘underground’ favorite pizza place in Saint Joe is expanding just in time for summer. Nardo’s Pizza Underground is where the fun of the '80s and '90s is brought to life.
You can enjoy arcade games like Star Wars, Skee Ball and Street Fighter, all while having a drink and Detroit-style pizza. Just walking in the door of Nardos brings an atmosphere unlike any other pizza place.
Saint Joe residents now have a second local pizza place that compliments the economy, but this one brings the taste of Detroit to Southwest Michigan.
Nardo, the curator of Nardo's Underground, has been all over, starting in the music industry before making street tacos and barbeque and finally finding his niche in pizza.
A Detroit native, Nardo decided to bring his distinct heritage to Lake Michigan with Detroit-style pizza and even Detroit beer to share with his customers.
That isn’t all, they even have a blueberry pizza they make during the blueberry season.
What makes the environment for Nardo is the chance to come down and have fun.
“The names are fun, you know, having the games here, taking it back to the early days when it was about having fun. Pizza is one of those things that bring people together, you know. It’s a good party, you get good food," Nardo said.
Some of those fun pizza names include the OG, a Gyro Pizza, and the Betty White, which consists of garlic white sauce, a specialty cheese blend, spinach, ricotta, bacon and parmesan.
You can find Nardo’s at 505 Pleasant St. in Saint Joseph, Michigan.
