National Parks could be getting a makeover

The House passed a bill on Wednesday approving federal funding for repairs and updates on National Parks across the country.

The Great American Outdoors Act is co-sponsored by Representative Jackie Walorski.

The National Park service as well as other agencies will receive up to $1.9 billion each year for the next five years.

The money will go towards helping modernize the outdoor lifestyles including campgrounds, marinas, and trails.

“The more places to go, the more enhanced and refined places to go, the more places where millennials are going to be comfortable going with Wi-Fi, upgraded facilities, that absolutely kicks back into our district here in Northern Indiana, spurring growth so that our jobs stay steady in Northern Indiana here in those industries and people can continue to enjoy what so many people have which is boating and RV-ing across this country,” said Representative Jackie Walorski.

According to experts this is the most significant investment in public lands and waters in decades.

President Trump’s signature is still needed on the bill, but it did get support from lawmaker’s across the country.
