ND men's basketball defeats UNC

The Notre Dame men's basketball team getting a major win against ACC opponent in the North Carolina Tar Heels, 78 to 73. A large part in the win was the leadership from the veterans on this Irish basketball team.

The Irish outshined the Tar Heels from beyond the 3-point arc as Notre Dame hit 42% of their threes. 

Senior forward Nate Laszewski created different ways to score points as he led the Irish in scoring with 20 points.

Laszewski showcasing his versatility by hitting threes early and often, shooting 6-7 from beyond the arc.

And it was the free throws from the veteran leaders on the Irish that helped seal the 78-73 win over the Tar Heels

Dane Goodwin and Nate Laszewski spoke postgame about how this veteran group was able to take down a college basketball blue blood by getting off to a hot start

“Were seasoned if you want to say but no we just know we know what we have to do now in those positions and how to get through it and made some big plays,” junior guard Dane Goodwin said. ”And they made a few big shots there then fall through and that's what you do and carry it on the rest of the way into the rest of the season.”

“You see your first you know a couple you know go in you know it's going to be a good night at least shooting the ball and you know,” senior forward Nate Laszewski said. “Luckily I got more shots you know in the second half to but guys, you know, like I said before kind of staying coming off, you know, his screens have been blank as well getting downhill and we're able to find me. So, you know, I just want to make those shots and get those guys assists.”

Notre Dame improves to 2-1 in conference play, and 8-5 overall on the year. Next up for the Fighting Irish is an away game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
