NDWBB's Jewell Loyd to enter 2015 WNBA Draft

After losing to UConn Tuesday night in the NCAA Women's Championship game, Notre Dame women's basketball junior guard Jewell Loyd has some important news to share.

Wednesday evening, the star player announced she will skip her senior year at the university and put her name into the 2015 WNBA draft.

Among experts, Loyd is expected to be among the top three selections in this year's WNBA draft.

If this is the case, Notre Dame would be the first school in the history of the WNBA college draft to produce top four picks in four consecutive years.

“We appreciate all that Jewell has done for our program and the University of Notre Dame during her time here. We understand this was not an easy decision. We wish her nothing but happiness and success at the next level,” says Fighting Irish head coach Muffet McGraw.

Loyd has garnered several awards for her abilities, including being a two-time All-America selection during her college career.

The 2015 NB Draft will be held at 7 p.m. on April 16th at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
