ST. JOESPH COUNTY, Ind. – Neighbors Organizing Against Racism are organizing a community read of “The Other Side of the River” by Alex Kotlowitz.

This community read will take place on January 9 from 4-5 p.m. via Zoom.

Meetings for the book read will occur weekly.

“The Other Side of the River” is about the death of a black, teenage boy and the racial tensions that escalate in the wake of the incident.

The community book read will take place over the course of four weeks.

Participants are asked to supply the books themselves, but no fees are required to participate.

After the book is finished, Neighbors Organizing Against Racism are looking to create a documentary about the experience.

If interested, participants may contact Trenton Bowens at 269-861-2861.

Neighbors Organizing Against Racism is a non-profit created in 2020 after the nation-wide protests over George Floyd’s death.
