NEW BUFFALO, Mich.-- The city of New Buffalo is about to look a whole lot different! A long awaited redevelopment project for the downtown area is officially a “go." The city broke ground on the $5 million downtown development project Monday afternoon.
New, wider sidewalks, bike lanes and handicap parking will all be added.. Plus, old sewer and water lines will be replaced for the first time since the eighteen hundreds. The project has been in the works for thirteen years.
"We’re moving forward finally and everybody is really excited. We had a great turnout here today," says Mayor Lou O'Donnell.
