New Carlisle man sentenced for mail fraud, must pay $2.2M restitution

A New Carlisle man has been sentenced to over 5 years in federal prison and must pay over $2.2 million in restitution to his former employer following his conviction on four counts of mail fraud.

Kevin Clinton, 62, was employed as the Chief Information Officer at a South Bend business and from March 2012 to October 2017 executed a plan to defraud his employer, according to the US Attorney's Office.

Clinton incorporated a business called Innovation Services and billed his employer for "information technology services" that were not performed, reports said.

The fraudulent billings to his employer totaled over $2.2 million, according to court records.

Clinton's employer was unaware Clinton owned the business.

Clinton was sentenced to 71 months in prison and must pay $2,271,720.05 in restitution.
