New Chief of Police and officer named at the Concord Community Schools Police Department

CONCORD, Ind. -- The Concord Community Schools Police Department named their new Chief of Police, John Riddle, and newest officer, Eric Schuman, in an announcement on Tuesday.

Riddle joined the department in August after serving 29 years with the South Bend Police Department in a number of roles. He will take over as chief on May 16.

“Officer Riddle joined us at the beginning of the school year and, from day one, it was clear that he had a deep understanding of the importance of building relationships with students and staff to ensure the safety of all. His many years of experience have prepared him for this opportunity and we look forward to seeing his leadership in action,” said Dan Funston, Superintendent of Concord Community Schools.

Schuman will join the department on May 23. He served ten years with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office before accepting this new position.

Nic Minder, the current Chief of Police with the department, has accepted a new role outside of law enforcement. Minder says he will continue to serve the Concord community in a number of ways, including staying involved with the high school girls’ basketball team.
