New details in case of infant with serious injuries

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department says the infant who was taken to the hospital with serious injuries earlier this week is expected to be released Thursday.

The infant suffered broken bones and had signs of shaken baby syndrome, according to reports.

Deputies are speaking with doctors to see if they can determine how the injuries were sustained.

"We have to rule out whether this was a medical condition or really a crime that happened. So these are all legitimate questions and so when we have an investigation like this especially as serious as this one is you have to look at all those angles,” said Captain Jim Bradberry of the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

The investigation is continuing.
