ELKHART, Ind.—A new wine bar is setting its sights on an opening date around Thanksgiving this year.

530 Wine Bar, owned by Elkhart natives Carl and Emilie Tiedemann, is set to open soon at 530 E. Lexington Avenue.

Vintner Carl Tiedemann makes his own line of boutique wines in Napa Valley, California. He has long hoped to open a place to educate others about wine and allow them to try wines from around the world.

His own wines include a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Merlot under the Glenwood Cellars wine label. There’s also a dessert wine and “Adler’s Blend,” which is named for Tiedemann’s grandson, under the Tiedemann label.

The wine bar will be open on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

An assortment of food items will be on the menu to pair with 38 wines by the glass or 24 options by the ounce, wine flights, over 150 wines by the bottle and craft beer exclusively from Iechyd Da Brewing Company.

Dishes will change seasonally and to start, the list will include flatbread options, crab chowder, beef short rib poutine and more.

Bottles of wine to-go will also be available.

The 40-seat wine bar will feature outdoor seating in the spring.

An official opening date has not been announced yet but check out 530 Wine Bar’s Facebook page for updates.
