Vets' Community Connections launched in South Bend Thursday. The pilot program is designed to help veterans, active duty service members and their spouses made the transition to post-deployment life.
Military personnel can call 311 between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to be directed to local volunteers who will offer guidance relevant to their needs.
"Community Connections is not just another program. It's an initiative. It provides a channel for vets and their families to connect with many more people in the community in order to find out information that's important to them," said Doug Wilson, co-founder of Vets Community Connections.
The program is only available in South Bend, San Diego and Maricopa, Arizona.
