SOUTH BEND, Ind.—A new scratch kitchen is planning to open this summer in a unique South Bend building.

No. 6, named for its location inside of old Firehouse No. 6, is targeting a mid-June opening date, according to one of the restaurant’s principles and its head chef, Amanda Shutts.

The scratch kitchen will be located at 701 Portage Avenue.

The menu will feature locally-sourced, seasonal comfort food, with items changing weekly.

Shutts says the menu will offer dishes like an Argentinian Filet Mignon, Pork Sugo, Taco Trio and Brisket Bites.

No. 6 will also feature wine and craft beer selections along with special aperitifs, craft sods, coffees and more.

Once up and running, the restaurant will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 4 to 10 p.m. It will also serve breakfast, with both grab-and-go and sit-down options, on Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
