New York man arrested Sunday after leading LCSO deputies of brief chase
LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- A New York man was arrested by the La Porte County Sheriff's Department after leading deputies on a brief chase around 1:19 Sunday afternoon.
Qihui Sun, 33, of Queens, New York was arrested and charged with Resisting Law Enforcement, a level six felony.
Authorities say a LCSO deputy was traveling east on U.S. 20 in the 4200 E. block.
The deputy paced the Sun's car for a tried to make a traffic stop in the 5300 E. block after it was determined Sun was speeding. The car did not stop and a chase ensued.
"The vehicle continued traveling east, underneath the Dogbone Interchange, and onto State Road 2. The motor vehicle persuit continued along S.R. 2 and into St. Joseph County, the LCSO said. "Upon approaching a set of tire deflation devices that had been placed on SR 2, the vehicle stopped. The driver was assisted from the vehicle and later identified as Sun."
After being arrested and taken to the La Porte County Jail, Sun posted bond was released later that day.
Arrests and criminal charges are mere accusations. Every person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
