What inauguration day looked like in schools
BENTON HARBOR, Mich – Benton Harbor Area Schools and the State of Michigan’s newly formed Advisory Committee held its first official meeting.
The committee was formed to turn the school district’s struggling academic and financial numbers around.
“Our goal is to really dig in to take a look at information as far previous plans we wanna hear from the community on where they see deficiencies,” Advisory Committee Chairperson Joyce Parker said.
The committee is made up of members from the community, the state of Michigan, and the school district.
“We want to do something comprehensive not just dealing with the finances or just the academic side of things we want to take a look at legislation that might be beneficial to the community,” Parker said.
The committee’s goal is to assess the state of the district, form solutions and implement them all before the start of next school year.
The committee’s will meet the first and third Monday of every month beginning Monday, November 4th.
