Massive vehicle crash on I-465 leaves drivers severely injured
INDIANAPOLIS – Mulitple vehicle crash on southbound I-465 leaves several injured Monday night.
Indiana State Police reported that the crash happened around 8:30 p.m. just north of Rockville Road.
The vehicles involved include two semi tractor-trailers, a box truck, and a pick-up truck.
Three drivers were reported as seriously injured.
One required a 12 minute extrication by the Wayne Township Fire Department.
The drivers were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Investigations showed that a semi was in the center lane when it became disabled. This then led to the the box truck rear-ending the semi and spinning into the path of the second semi.
The pick-up truck then ran into the back of the crashed vehicles, according to officials.
There will be one land open southbound while crews clean up the accident.
Indiana State Police have withheld names at this time due the severity of the injuries.
