Next phase of Olive St. construction begins Tuesday
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The next stage of the Olive Street Pavement Replacement Project begins Tuesday, affecting traffic in the area.
Beginning March 23, Olive Street, from Prairie Avenue/S.R. 23 to Indiana Court, will be closed to traffic.
Crews will be replacing concrete pavement along the stretch while it’s closed.
Southbound traffic for Olive Street will detour east on Sample Street and south on Prairie Avenue/S.R. 23 before reaching Olive.
Northbound traffic on Olive and access to businesses in the impacted area will be maintained during construction.
Once it’s reopened to the public, the street will be a three-lane corridor, including two travel lanes and a center turn lane.
Other features will include new storm sewers, driveway approaches, curb ramps, and a multipurpose trail on the east side of the street.
This phase of the project is expected to be completed by October, weather permitting.
